Our first of 4 Triathlon Training Camps is scheduled for June 12-21 this year at Rocky Gap State Park.

They have a race right there that first weekend - on the 13th - for those who want to Race:

See - http://home.comcast.n...

For those who just want to train - see the campsite web address at - http://www.dnr.state....

We will be there for 9 nights - but you can come for 1, 2, or all 9. The cost is $20 per day which counts your food. I realize this seems low, but if you arrive on Friday night and leave on Saturday morning, that counts as 2 days ($40). We have all the camp gear, but you'll need your bike, goggles, wetsuit if you have one and sleeping bag. We are not set up for kids or non triathletes who just want a holiday space in the mountains and have nothing to do with the group. any supplies or food you bring to share is appreciated. We live, train and eat like a family on all of these training trips.

We will do a semi mountainous "road" bike ride every day, followed by lunch, then a swim and a run at the camp. The distances are manageable and we take our time. You can do some or all of the distances & events as your ability permits. This is fine for Beginners. people needing more attention or Coaching can also hire me for that at $100 for a three month period, but that is not necessary for this trip unless you need the help.

If you do 3-4 days of this trip - you will come back lighter and stronger for certain. We can only take 6 over night at one time on this camp site.

    •  We had new people every day. We covered about 180 miles in 9 days of biking, plus running and swimming over numerous courses. The test of the mountains really revealed who was who. The mental toughness of triathlon clearly is something anyone can do - but few actually do. Triathlon doesn't build character as much as reveal it - and many find the test of hard training, hills and heat draws on resources they never even thought they'd need to develop. At US Nationals - I remember praying during the run "God help me not to pass out". My prayed was answered and I prevailed on that day, and I can't imagine what my out come would have been like w/o faith in something greater than myself to inspire and ask for assistance. Like many other athletes - I credit God with my success and health to compete at this level.
    •  If you are looking for a right-wing, conservative triathlon trainer who degrades women and does not hesitate to voice his opinion about his political and social views during your entire training session then this is the program for you. Unfortunately, it was not what I was expecting at all. I signed up for three days and could wait to get back to camp from the bike ride so I could leave. Lesson learned - do plently of research before you commit any time or energy into one of these groups.
