The dance team will start at my place (8510 briarcroft lane - Laurel, Md. 20708) this Sunday at 1:30 PM on 10/25/09. This applies to you even if you couldn't make a "check it out" event - you are still welcome and the first time is free if you couldn't check it out prior. Some people who can't start this Sunday may start next Sunday (Nov 1or Sunday Nov 8). Our focus is on 20's and 30's age group but we'll take anybody who can do the skills. Also - Ben Peli is in free as a carry over from a previous session.
The class runs every Sunday till the end of February 2010 when we have the dance cruise - See - http://www.hustle-sa lsacruise.com/
We also have the option to do VSO -Nov 19-21 See - http://www.barrydura nd.com/vso/schedule. htm
But you can be on the dance team and learn to dance even if you don't do any events at all. The cost is $100 which covers the 4 month period - and we do feed you Sunday night, kind of as pot luck. Namely - I cook and people also bring stuff.
We do salsa swing and Hustle - and meet weekly, plus a few social outings to various night clubs like Clarendon Grill, Rendezvous, Elan, Havana Club and of course Nicks (Below). the team this time will be 16 people counting past alumni of the team plus Linda and I. We have a lot of interest this time - but we will stop at a maximum 16 this session. I may try 32 next session if 16 isn't too much this time. When you come Sundays - expect to work out some, dance some, do a few lifts and tricks, and we finish off with Dinner. We'll do more salsa this session than last session - cause there is a demand. Periodically, we'll see Steve, Alegra and Brian to assist the group. And Daniil for Gymnastics. By joining, you are never committed to do anything - but do try to do 75% of what we schedule to get the most out of it.

Gang, We are doing a long easy ride and then the Herndon party (after) with a distance of about 30 miles on the W&OD trail. I expect we'll start at 5:30 PM for this 2 hour ride, so we make it back in time to run over to Anita's for dinner after wards. If you have to start later - expect us to stop at the Switch station with the coke machines and the porta potties after 6 PM. We will stop there on our westward trek. As a rule - we run a little late - so if you are late - call my cell at 301-367-5201 rather than assuming we have already left. We'll meet at the parking lot below the red caboose at mile mark 20 on the W&OD trail at 5:15 PM this friday the 11th of September. We'll leave going west at 5:30 PM for a long easy ride to Paeonian Springs farm store and back. We'll stop there briefly and recharge - so bring money for the store and also the party after the ride. See our trail map start at http://www.wodfriend s.org/map10.html Our turn around point is http://www.wodfriend s.org/map3.html

Gang - Here's the event for this week: The Reston century is rapidly approaching - Sunday Aug 23rd. you can register right there at the event. See - http://www.restonbik eclub.org/restoncent ury/ They have rides that are 33, 65, and 104 miles. This is a great event, and a supported ride. basically, it's 15-20 miles between rest stops. I would advise new bikers to try the 65 mile metric century, and veterans do the full 104. The food stops at 4:30 PM - so do the math for a 7 AM start: For the 65 - assume a start of 7 AM and 15 MPH. Add 1 hour total for rest stops. Assume 5.5 hours or a finish time around 1 PM cause getting registered and outta Reston take a few minutes too. For the 104 - add two hours and assume a 3 PM finish time. Please RSVP so we can meet up prior to the event! David Flynn 301-367-5201

Gang, This is our second camping/training get together of the Summer – slated for July 1 – July 6, 2009 at Assateague state park. Details – our annual Beach trip is scheduled for July 1-6 this year at Assateague State Park – we can take up to 12 people. For those who just want to camp and or work out with us - see the campsite web address at – http://www.dnr.state .md.us/PublicLands/E astern/Assateague.ht ml We will be there for 5 nights - but you can come for 1, 2, or all 5. The cost is $20 per day which counts your food. I realize this seems low, but if you arrive on Friday night and leave on Saturday morning, that counts as 2 days ($40). We have all the camp gear, but you'll need your bike (if you have one), swim goggles, and sleeping bag. We are not set up for kids or non participants who just want a holiday space at the ocean and have nothing to do with our group. Any supplies or food you bring to share is appreciated. We live, train and eat like a family on all of these training trips. We will do a "road" bike ride every day mostly on the Sea Gull century course, followed by lunch, then a swim and a run at the camp. The distances are manageable and we take our time. You can do some or all of the distances & events as your ability permits. Or - you can just camp and do NOTHING. Plan to bring swim gear and spare inner tubes, sleeping bag, and a warm set of clothes for the night. We will do one restaurant night out. We will also do a board walk night out and a dance night out. This is fine for Beginners who want a live in coach for a couple of days. People needing more attention or Coaching can also hire me for that at $100 for a three month period, but that is not necessary for this trip unless you need the extra help Note - If you paid me for dance team - you have already hired me as a coach for this stuff also. If you do 3-4 days of this trip - you will come back lighter and stronger for certain. We can only take 12 over night at one time on this camp site. You MUST RSVP here to join us. Questions? Call David at 301-367-5201
